Joined a wagashi experience workshop at Yuwagashi with my girlfriend yesterday and we had such a wonderful time. We learned how to make beautiful nerikiri sweets using traditional techniques. The instructor was very patient and explained everything clearly, guiding us step by step — from shaping the sweets to adding delicate details and colors — so it was easy to follow even as newbies with ZERO knowledge & skill.
The whole session was relaxed, cozy, and really enjoyable, making it perfect for spending quality time together. The ingredients were fresh and nicely prepared, and it was so fun to see our creations come together. Each piece turned out unique and elegant!
Overall, it was a great mix of learning, creativity, and relaxation. We left feeling happy and proud of what we made together. Would definitely recommend this workshop to anyone who loves Japanese desserts or is simply looking for a fun and memorable activity to enjoy with family or friends.
***There was a small lucky draw session for every participant, which added a fun surprise element to this workshop. We gotten “Buy ONE free ONE” and “10% discount for item purchased”

The experience was excellent! We actually came on a Sunday and expected a lot of people to show up. But luckily, everything was already well arranged with their no walk ins and their booking system via WhatsApp. Each session ( experience class ) is only for 6 people, which is perfect for a small weekend activity with families and friends. I highly recommend trying the experience class session if it’s your first time learning wagashi as it is very fun and easy to learn. It took only about 1.5-2 hours which is perfect for a quick, ambient experience.
Furthermore, there was an amazing cafe next to the workshop where you are allowed to purchase any food or beverages whilst your doing the workshop!
The staff is very friendly and is always willing to help guide you through each task – don’t worry if you have a younger sibling / child / relatives etc.. they are very keen to help you.
A huge shoutout to Hannah Sensei for helping us with our first time making Japanese desserts!

I joined their Wagashi workshop and it's a wonderful experience. One of my friends didn't like black sesame but the team was really helpful and offered to change the filling to something else (in our case, chocolate).
Our instructor, Hana-sensei was really helpful and friendly. The instructions are simple and easy to follow.
We got two wagashis to bring home. They have a mild sweet taste and firmer texture compared to mochi.
I also bought their Iced Matcha Latte. They have a rich matcha flavour. I'm curious how richer their Iced Matcha Latte Kaw would taste like. 🤭

I had such a lovely time at this wagashi making class! The instructor explained everything clearly and patiently, making it easy even for beginners to follow. We learned about the traditional techniques behind wagashi and also got to be hands-on, shaping and decorating our own beautiful sweets.
The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable, and the ingredients provided were fresh and high quality. I was really proud of what I made — they looked almost too pretty to eat! It was a perfect mix of learning, creativity and fun.
I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who loves Japanese culture, desserts, or just wants to try something unique and relaxing. I left with new skills, delicious treats, and a big smile 😊

My husband and I had such a wonderful time at the wagashi workshop today. Our teacher – Ms. Aki was extremely friendly, patient, and very clear in her teaching. Every step was explained well, so we were able to follow along without feeling stressed.
The whole session was enjoyable and very relaxing, and the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. We were super happy and proud to see that we actually managed to make our own wagashi at the end of the workshop.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to try something new and have a lovely hands-on experience. Would definitely come again

I recently attended a 4-hour class with Yu Wagashi workshop and it was such a rewarding experience! The session was perfectly paced, long enough to really dive into techniques, experiment with materials, and refine my work without feeling rushed. I have a great retreat experience enrolling to Yu Wagashi workshop on my birthday. Teacher AhKin is very patience and kind. The atmosphere is good that we immediately blend in with other participants. Small class of 4-5 pax just nice that we don't feel neglected. Will visit again for other workshop experience. Also my 1st visit to GMBB strategic location at city centre.

Love the unique experience and opportunity to wear kimono. Hana sensei is very experienced and help me craft a beautiful masterpiece. The shop deco is very beautiful with muji style 💕 it is worth it.

If you think you will be learning very little in 2hr experience class, you may be surprised, there is so much you can learn in 2hrs. Yet, there are still loads to learn after. I highly recommend you to learn here, the sensei are patient and instructions are clear, you just need to follow one step after the other. The space is welcoming and the 4 person group size is great, everyone has sensei's attention, she may correct us in time or we may have questions to ask or need help, sensei will be able to attend to everyone of us. The tools and materials provided are clean, the packaging is also cute and sturdy. Will go back for more learning, there are 8 levels to certification. I love how the prices are so transparent. Worth giving their workshop a try.

If you're curious about learning about Japanese Wagashi, this is a great place to start learning. Signing up for classes was easy (I did it via WhatsApp) and they are very accommodating to your scheduling needs if any. The actual lesson was also easy to follow and the instructor explains each step thoroughly (and also why we do things a specific way) which is very helpful for beginners. They also sell macha based drinks and a small variety of Japanese desserts at the side so you can have a bite once lessons are over. Overall, a great place to learn about Wagashi in general.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a Wagashi workshop, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. From start to finish, the workshop was well-organized, informative, and incredibly enjoyable.
Warm Welcome and Introduction: Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the workshop hosts, who provided a brief introduction to the art of Wagashi.

Came here to do their beginner wagashi workshop with my wife and we had a blast. The workshop was straightforward and surprisingly easy. Location wasn't difficult to find and there were plenty of restaurants within the building to grab a snack before the class. Do bring your own water as beverages aren't provided

Had so much fun in the wagashi experience workshop. The sensei was very friendly and instructions given were clear and easy to follow. The wagashi were sooo cute! Afterwards we took pictures in kimonos too. Thanks to all the staffs who were very helpful and friendly for this awesome experience.

I just attended the Beginner Level 1 class 💯 Very comfortable classroom, just nice for 1 instructor with 5 students. Ingredients and equipment are all well prepared, very hygienic and cozy environment. Instructor was very patience and guided us through every step with no rush. Very great learning experience and will definitely come back for level 2 🥰

I had a really good experience learning how to craft the Nerikiri designs. The instructor was patient and helpful in ensuring that we were able to follow, and demonstrated clearly what we were supposed to do. The class has sparked my interest to learn more about making Nerikiri.
Overall, the pace and size of the class was also just nice and we were able to learn comfortably, and in a pleasant setting. I also had a fun time wearing the 👘 after the class!
I am really happy with what I took home at the end of the class 😃

I attended Yu Wagashi's nerikiri wagashi experience workshop lately and absolutely enjoyed it. I was only interested in buying some to eat when I was searching on Google for a place, but discovered they're offering classes for making nerikiri wagashi at different level and decided to give it a try.
The space for workshop was comforting and welcoming, the number of participants was 6 during my visit. For someone who has attended quite a number of workshops like this, I feel like this is a good amount of participants, and the instructor was also very attentive and friendly in guiding everyone throughout the process.
For the experience workshop, the ingredients and tools are all prepared, you can just come empty handed and just experience and enjoy the process of making nerikiri wagashi, with two pieces with different designs that you can take home the end of the day.
I'd recommend the experience workshop for anyone who's interested in learning how to make nerikiri wagashi at an entry level that doesn't want to go through the process of preparing the ingredients, tools and making the dough. It's a fun experience, and a very calming one with a friendly and attentive instructor.

I enrolled for the Intensive course one&to-one with sensei Kelsey. AWESOME AND ULTRA ZEN!!! The best training experience. I don't have any experience in the art and learning from scratch. With the calm, patient and clear guidance, I made 6 designs from beginner to advance needle cutting. It was from 11am till 8pm ish, and sensei was in no rush to finish the class to ensure I get the needle cutting technique right. I have signed up another needle cutting course after this, and will be bringing my nieces for beginner lessons because it is a valuable experience for the girls who love J culture. I would recommend those who have time to take the course from beginner, intermediate and then advance cause you can often come back into this zen zone that is just so tranquil. I aiming high to train myself to become a wagashi artist now!!

In the fast paced life we live in, this allowed me time to slow down and appreciate the process of creating something beautiful and yummy to take home and reluctantly devour(it was not perfect, but still too pretty to cut into).

Had a wonderful workshop with Yu Wagashi! The sensei is experienced and thoughtful. Ingredients were provided in advance and you just have to be there on time to learn. Fun experience as you can do it together with your loved one and friend and you don't have to be skillful as their workshop is for beginners also. The workshop is definitely worth to try!

Kelsey, our instructor, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The wagashi was delicious, though slightly less sweetness would make it perfect.
The highlight was definitely wearing kimonos and capturing memorable family photos.
